Insurance Conference: The Risk and Insurance Management Society Canada Council holds a four-day conference in Calgary that began Sunday.

Securities Hearing into Amaya: A tribunal with Quebec's securities regulator begins hearings Monday in the Amaya insider trading case. Thirteen people are alleged to have used their access to informatio­n to rake in nearly $1.5 million in profit over five years. They haven't been charged but have been ordered not to trade shares or gain access to proceeds from their activities.

Rogers CEO Speech: Guy Laurence, president and CEO of Rogers Communicat­ions, speaks Wednesday before the Canadian Club of Canada in Toronto. The company, among other big TV service providers, has faced criticism for the rollout of its so-called "skinny basic" television packages.

Real Estate: Another batch of real estate data is expected to come out Thursday when the Canadian Real Estate Associatio­n reports home sales figures for August. Property sales have been down nationally for three consecutiv­e months.

Empire Annual Meeting: Empire, the parent company of grocer Sobeys, will report its first-quarter earnings and hold its annual meeting Thursday in Stellarton, N.S., where it's headquarte­red. Two months ago, Empire CEO Marc Poulin left abruptly, after a turbulent fiscal year that saw more than $2 billion in net losses.
