Suggestion for Bombardier
Re Bombardier to cut another 7,500 jobs,
2,000 in Canada, Oct. 22 Curious that Bombardier’s Simon Letendre describes cutting 14,500 jobs as “tough actions we need to take to make the business more profitable and succeed in the future.” Maybe a more effective strategy would be to put those people to work building the transportation equipment the company has proven incapable of supplying on time. Who knows? Perhaps if supply contracts with the city of Toronto and Metrolinx were honoured, there might be future orders from them and from other municipalities. Without that, there will be more jobs lost as transportation authorities try to find a more dependable supplier. Neil Thomlinson, Toronto
