Weightlifter Girard could get upgrade

LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND— Canadian weightlifter Christine Girard appears to be in line for a medal upgrade after three athletes from Kazakhstan were stripped of their golds from the 2012 London Olympics. The Kazakh lifters were among eight athletes sanctioned after their stored samples came back positive for steroids. Zulfiya Chinshanlo, Maiya Maneza and Svetlana Podobedova have been stripped of gold. Girard could also move from fourth to third for the 2008 Beijing Games.
