Police language troubling

In response to the case of an American beaten to death, I heard a representative of the Toronto Police Service (TPS) recently announce to the two suspects: “We will hunt you down.” Wow, I was not aware the TPS had turned into a no-nonsense military force. Is this the Americanization of the TPS?
