Women’s sports deserve more media coverage

The sad thing about women’s sports is that it doesn’t receive the coverage and the funding that it deserves. Nothing in the sports section today.

If this paper and others dedicated at least one page to women’s sports in their male-dominated sports sections, you would be finally serving 50 per cent of your readers. It’s been my complaint all my newspaper-reading life.

Women in sports get almost nothing but crumbs, the occasional story to satisfy them and all the sports-minded little girls that look for heroines and inspiratio­n.

Devote at least one page to women’s sports. Is that too much to ask? If you increase their exposure, the funding will follow. M. Schooff, Orangevill­e, Ont.
