MLB: Cardinals fan reportedly grazed by bullet

-

ST. LOUIS— Police said Wednesday they were investigating after a woman attending a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game was grazed in the arm by a stray bullet that apparently originated outside Busch Stadium.

The 34-year-old victim was inside the ballpark Tuesday during the game against the Milwaukee Brewers when she felt pain in her arm. She went to a first-aid station for treatment and a bullet was later found near her seat. She had an abrasion on one of her elbows.

Todd Porter, 54, of O’Fallon, Illinois, was at the game with his son and said he was seated in front of the victim.

“Wow, I think I’ve been shot,” the woman said near the end of the eighth inning, Porter told the Post-Dispatch.

“We thought she was joking, but everybody turned around and she showed me the blood coming down from her elbow,” said Porter, who left the game.

“I told my son, ‘Let’s get up out of here before someone else gets to shooting.’ ” 10-DAY LIST CROWDED: Baseball’s new 10-day disabled list is getting plenty of use. Tuesday’s additions alone included pitchers Corey Kluber, Cole Hamels, Edinson Volquez and Sean Doolittle.

Cleveland put Kluber on the 10-day list with a lower back strain after he left a start against Detroit on Tuesday after three innings.

Hamels, who didn’t even make it out of the Texas bullpen for his Tuesday start, has a strained right oblique muscle and will be out for about two months.

The Marlins’ Volquez joined the list with blister problems after walking eight batters against Tampa Bay.

And Doolittle, the Oakland reliever who has missed big chunks of the last two season, joined the group with a strain of the left shoulder. A’s manager Bob Melvin said he is not anticipating a quick return. ZIMMERMAN GETS NL HONOUR: Washington first baseman Ryan was named the NL player of the month for April.

The 32-year-old Zimmerman was a predictable choice after leading baseball in batting average (.420), slugging (.886), OPS (1.345), hits (37), and extra-base hits (19) for the month.
