Body found after search for woman

- Star staff,

Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Beata Paciorek, a 35year-old woman from Brampton.

Late Sunday night, Sault Ste. Marie police issued a press release saying a woman’s body had been found during their investigation into this case. The identity of the body has not been confirmed.

Peel Region police said they began investigating after Paciorek went missing last week while driving a UHaul rental truck headed to the Sudbury area.

Investigators believe an altercation took place on the side of the highway, during which fatal injuries were inflicted on the victim, said Lori Murphy, spokesperson for Peel Region police.

On Saturday, police arrested Mike Madill, 28, and Amy Macdonald, 37, for first degree-murder in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Sault Ste. Marie police estimated the earliest an autopsy could be performed would be Tuesday.
