NDPers don’t fear socialism
Re Singh gives reason to watch federal NDP,
Harper, May 17 I am one of the silver-haired seniors who have supported, worked for and voted NDP since 1968. I bucked the Trudeaumania sweeping my generation because I’d heard Tommy Douglas talk about a world I could believe in. One where the citizens were cared for and everyone mattered. Long-time democratic socialists like me are looking for a leader who isn’t afraid to say those words out loud, who talks about how the rich in our country don’t pay their fair share and who will fight for justice and redistribution of wealth. We’re betting that young people facing a housing crisis, income inequality and environmental catastrophe might just be looking for that too. Diana McLaren, Toronto
