A tale of two Blue Jays fans

mischief, May 31 No beer incidents at Blue Jay games this year?

Maybe reporter Jackie Hong and Blue Jays’ vice-president of fan engagement Sebastian Gatica should spend more time in the 500 sections.

Those of us who unfortunately cannot afford better seats but still love to watch live baseball have to repeatedly put up with the obnoxious drunks and vulgar individuals who think they are funny spilling beer on everyone and hurling unprintable insults at the opposing players.

Security usually consists of an usherette or usher, who are outmatched to handle these drunken bullies.

Maybe it is time not only to end the sale of beer cans but to make the entire 500 section alcohol-free and let the moms, dads and small children embrace baseball as the enjoyable family outing that it is meant to be. Alex Cooke, East York I was at the Blue Jays game last Monday night and, by the third inning, I realized I had lost my cellphone.

My friend and I decided to backtrack to where we had been. There are usually no in/out privileges but a kind security guard accompanied us outside the Rogers Centre to help us check the spot where we’d sat to eat our hotdogs before the game.

Much to our amazement there was a note written on tape sticking to the very bench we had sat on.

The note stated, “your phone is at gate 6,” which was the closest gate to this area.

We were so impressed that someone took the time to write the note and leave my phone in a safe place for me to retrieve.

To that good Samaritan, I say a big thank you.

Not only could I have lost my phone but my driver’s licence and health card were also in the case. Susan Crawford, Bracebridge, Ont.
