Baltimore, Ont. Location: 7202 Northumberland Co. Rd. 18, Harwood Rd. and Rice Lake Scenic Dr. Asking price: $1,599,000 Size: about 2,800 sq. ft., plus about 2,600 sq. ft. finished basement Lot: about 1.325 acres, two-car attached garage, three-car detached garage, private drive Taxes: $8,668 (2016) Bedrooms: 3 plus 1 Bathrooms: 4 Backing onto Rice Lake with 200 feet of beach shoreline, this sprawling bungalow was designed and built by a father-and-son contractor team.

“Our family has spent time at a cottage, or lived, on Rice Lake since the mid-1960s. And since we’ve been in the construction business for generations, we decided to build our custom home on one of the most prestigious lots on the south shore of Rice Lake,” says homeowner Joe Listro, the senior partner of the contracting team.

“We wanted to create a unique home for the area, one that was grand in design and offered more than the typical custom-built home, with neither a rustic or cottage look about it. The features we wanted included a vaulted ceiling in the foyer to create a truly grand entrance, with a porcelain tile floor with a pattern that carried into the kitchen and dining room, large windows to take advantage of the view, and two garages: a two-car attached to the home and a detached three-car,” says Listro.

“Our property is quiet with stunning sunsets and delightful views all year round. The level and swimmable shoreline has always been one of the most attractive features for us, our children and grandchildren,” he adds.

The town of Cobourg, with shopping, restaurants, a theatre art gallery and library, is about 20 minutes away. Hwy. 401 is also within a 20minute drive and Toronto about an hour and 40 minutes by car.

“Not many homes on Rice Lake offer so many benefits, from the gourmet kitchen to the expansive recreation room with a walkout,” says listing agent Nathan Copeland. He adds the home’s guest room comes with an ensuite and the basement is fully finished and includes a second kitchen,” says listing agent Nathan Copeland.

This executive bungalow has a stone exterior, several large, arched windows and a central entrance with a peaked roof. There is an interlocking brick walkway, a long drive and a spacious, landscaped front yard.

Inside, the grand foyer features a cathedral ceiling, porcelain tile floor at the entrance plus a hardwood floor, a double coat closet, a chande- lier and oversized front door with a glass insert and bordered with glass panels. Above the door is a soaring arched window. On one side of the foyer is an opening to the partially enclosed living room, which contains a hardwood floor, crown moulding and a picture window.

The dining room can also serve as a breakfast room and is outfitted with a porcelain tile floor, pot lights, a large arched picture window and a garden door walkout to the back deck. The dining room opens up to the family room with a gas fireplace, hardwood floor, crown moulding and a picture window.

Overlooking the dining room is the generous-sized and sophisticated kitchen, which includes a porcelain tile floor, custom-built cherry cabinets, ceramic tile backsplash, a pantry, pot lights, stainless steel appliances and granite counters.

A powder room is located next to the foyer. The main-floor laundry room has direct access to the attached garage.

The master bedroom showcases a hardwood floor, a large arched bay window, two more windows, a double closet and a five-piece ensuite with a corner soaker tub, a separate shower stall and two vanity sinks. There are two more bedrooms, both with hardwood floors and several windows.

A four-piece bathroom finishes this floor.

On the lower level, the huge and open recreation room has enough space for a dining room table and several good-sized sitting areas. It features a laminate floor, large windows, pot lights and a walkout with a ceramic tile foyer and coat closet. There is also a second kitchen in the basement with a granite counter and ceramic tile backsplash, and a bedroom with a four-piece ensuite.

The backyard features a deck off the kitchen, three out buildings — including a three-car detached garage, and plenty of green space that leads to the owned sandy beach shoreline.
