4-year-old called 911 after near-drowning

A woman who was pulled from a Newmarket backyard pool after the 4-year-old girl she was babysittin­g called 911 remained in life-threatenin­g condition Saturday.

Police went to the residence near Davis Dr. and Alexander Rd. just before 5 p.m. Friday for a report of a possible drowning and found the 20year-old woman in the water with no vital signs. Police said she had accidental­ly gone into the deep end of the pool and was unresponsi­ve.

CPR was administer­ed on the spot, before she was transporte­d to a local hospital. Police said the incident was not considered suspicious, and the child was not injured.
