Re Supreme Court stands by controvers­ial ruling requiring trials take place

within a reasonable time, June 16 Delaying justice is bad but it is not the same as denying justice. Eating a meal two hours later than usual is a delay (and is bad) but it is not the same as being denied the meal altogether.

Delaying a suspected murderer’s trial is bad and is justice delayed. Letting a suspected murderer go free because of a delay is much worse and is justice denied for the victim and for society.

The people responsibl­e for the delay should be the ones punished. If politician­s have not appointed enough judges, or not properly funded prosecutor­s, then hold the politician­s in contempt of court. Jason Fleming, North York
