New Ontario Place park walks gently on the land
Re A sign of hope in a sea of dreck, Hume, June 27 Thank you, Christopher Hume, for such an excellent review of the new Trillium Park at Ontario Place.
My husband and I had the pleasure of taking our Ottawa visitors there just the day before and were thrilled to see our feelings expressed so well.
The beauty and tranquility of this urban park is very moving. The architects managed to create a space that is far removed from the 1971 vision of Ontario Place as a Disneyland of the North and instead have managed to portray our country’s current attitude of working with nature and “walking gently on the land.”
Hopefully, this lovely retreat from the concrete surroundings will continue to expand into a green space and will reveal our political leaders’ and planners’ commitment to maintaining a proper balance between development and parkland.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Canada 150! Ann Morton, Toronto
