June 27 So the TTC is the best transit system in North America. What plagues Canada on many fronts is taking pride that we are the best in North America, which usually means better than the U.S.

Being better than the U.S. is just not good enough, especially in areas such as public transit, heath care, elder care and day care, where a good chunk of western Europe is so much better than we are. When I hear we are the best in the G7 or the G20, that’s something to be proud of. Better than the U.S., not so much. Eric Mendelsohn, Toronto
