Suckling pig fans might want to check out the new Wilson’s Haus of Lechon at 365 Wilson Ave. Owner Wilson Martinito spit-roasts 40pound pigs ($12 a pound) in the manner of his native Cebu, the Philippines, with lemongrass, green onions and other aromatics in the cavity. Open Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tabriz Persian Cookhouse
Tabriz Persian Cookhouse has opened at 995 Bay St., serving such Iranian specialties as ghormeh sabzi (herbed beef stew, $17), zereshk polo (saffron chicken rice, $18) and koofteh Tabrizi (seasoned meat loaf, $20). Open Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday,11 a.m. to late.
Chula Taberna Mexicana
The two-patio cantina Chula Taberna Mexicana has replaced McGugan’s Scottish pub at 1058 Gerrard St. E. Co-owners Bryan Burke (El Local Loco) and Adam Dolley (Loaded Pierogi) devised a menu of crispy avocado ($9), soft-shell crab tacos ($7) and grilled mahi mahi with pineapple salsa ($16). Open Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen
Janet Zuccarini is planning to open Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen at 104 Portland St. later this summer, across the street from sister restaurant Gusto 101. Partisans architects (Bar Raval) are renovating the 127year-old row house to fit 100 seats. Executive chef Elio Zannoni and Jamaican-born chef de cuisine Donavon Campbell will serve jerk burger, slow-cooked oxtail and patties. To be open daily for lunch and dinner.
