> HIGHEST-PAID ACTORS AND ACTRESSES

-

Don’t feel sorry for them or anything, but most of the actors and actresses confirmed for the Toronto International Film Festival so far are lagging behind their counterparts when it comes to earnings. A list of the highest paid male and female stars released by Forbes on Tuesday revealed Emma Stone was the highest ranked of TIFF attendees at No. 15, with gross earnings of $26 million (all figures U.S.) between June 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017. Another TIFF guest, Jennifer Lawrence, was at No. 17 with $24 million and Matt Damon clocked in at No. 19 with $21 million. Forbes also made note of the continuing pay gap between males and females in Hollywood, with the top 10 actors earning $488.5 million, nearly three times the $172.5-million total of the top 10 women. A couple of Canadian celebs, the Ryans Reynolds and Gosling, were newcomers to the list this year with Gosling making $29 million on the strength of La La Land, and Reynolds making a likely Deadpool-fuelled $21.5 million.
