Brit, Americans and Letterkenny join JFL42
British comedy star Jack Whitehall; TV, movie and Broadway face Colin Quinn, and the Bronx’s Bodega Boys have been added to the lineup for Toronto’s JFL42 Festival.
Some homegrown talent has also joined the roster. Toronto’s Courtney Gilmour and Montreal’s D.J. Mausner, the first co-winners of the Just for Laughs Homegrown Comedy Competition in 19 years, will perform.
And the cast of TV hit Letterkenny, winner of the Canadian Screen Award for Best Comedy Series earlier this year, will do a special table read, featuring stars Jared Keeso and Nathan Dales.
Whitehall, a People’s Choice and British Comedy Award winner who hosts the comedy talk show Backchat with Jack Whitehall and his Dad, will perform Sept. 27 and 28.
Quinn, known for TV gigs such as Saturday Night Live and Girls and the Amy Schumer movie Trainwreck, is onstage Sept. 29. Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will perform their Bodega Boys podcast live Sept. 30.
Other additions includes 30 Rock’s Judah Friedlander; Last Comic Standing’s Jon Reep; and comedian and writer Max Silvestri.
Feminist Live Reads will tackle Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion to commemorate the film’s 20th anniversary, with JFL42 comedians and special guests doing the roles. New daytime ComedyCon programming includes Mike Birbiglia and Jenny Slate “In Conversation,” and CNN host W. Kamau Bell moderating “A Political Conversation.”
