KEY PLAYERS
Nolan Arenado/Paul Goldschmidt Colorado’s all-star Gold Glove third baseman, Arenado, and the Diamondbacks’ first baseman, who finished as runner up for the NL’s most valuable player award in both 2013 and 2015, have both earned buzz as candidates for the league’s biggest individual award this year. Their home run and RBI totals are similar, with Arenado producing 37 long balls and batting in 130 runs to Goldschmidt’s 36 dingers and 120 RBIs. But the momentum is with Arenado heading into the one-anddone game: he batted .330 with a 1.034 OPS in September, compared to Goldschmidt’s .171 average and .555 OPS through the final month of the regular season.
