Churchill’s 1947 cigar auctioned for $12K

-

A Cuban cigar half-smoked by British prime minister Winston Churchill during a 1947 trip to Paris has sold for just over $12,000 (U.S.) during an online auction.

Boston-based RR Auction said the 10-centimetre cigar was bought Wednesday by a Florida collector.

Included in the auction was a photo signed by Churchill that shows him with the cigar at Le Bourget Airport on May 11, 1947.
