Classic albums by the Tragically Hip, Gordon Lightfoot and the Band are among those named to the 2017 Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize honour roll, it was revealed Tuesday morning.

A sister award to the Polaris Music Prize that aims to recognize worthy Canadian musical achievements that predate Polaris’s 2006 inception, the Heritage Prize added eight more albums to its Cancon “hall of fame.” Four were selected by a jury of 11 Canadian music writers and broadcasters; four by an online vote.
