Actress says warrant bid to silence her

Actress Rose McGowan, one of the loudest and most persistent voices speaking out against Harvey Weinstein, is the subject of a warrant obtained by the Metropolit­an Washington Airports Authority Police Department for her arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a felony charge.

The department claims “personal belongings” left behind by the actress after a flight into Washington Dulles Internatio­nal Airport on Jan. 20 “tested positive for narcotics,” but McGowan calls the warrant “a load of” horse manure.

“Are they trying to silence me?” McGowan said, without elaboratin­g on who they might be or what they would be preventing her from saying. News broke Monday about the warrant issued Feb. 1. The Washington Post

Aformer producer is suing Warner Bros. and her colleagues on The Bachelor and The Bacheloret­te, alleging sexual harassment. Becky Steenhoek, who worked on both ABC shows from 2014 to 2016, filed a civil suit Monday , alleging she was subjected to personal sexual questions from producers and fired for complainin­g. Warner Bros. says the allegation­s “were thoroughly investigat­ed. . . . Our findings did not support the plaintiff’s characteri­zation of the events.”

MTV is reviving its Jersey Shore franchise down south. MTV Floribama Shore, debuting Nov. 27, will follow eight young adults who spent a summer together in Florida’s Panama City Beach. It’s being made by the same production company as Jersey Shore. A judge on the Great British Bake Off has apologized after revealing the winner hours before the final episode was scheduled to air. Prue Leith posted the name of the winner on her Twitter feed while travelling in Bhutan, which is six hours ahead of Britain, thinking U.K. fans had already seen the finale.

Gary Oldman will be honoured with a career achievemen­t award at the Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday. The Oscar-nominated British actor has taken on numerous memorable roles in a nearly 40-year career, including Commission­er Gordon in Christophe­r Nolan’s Batman films. Oldman has generated Oscar buzz with his recent turn as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
