Weinstein inspired Keith Urban song

Country star Keith Urban planned to debut a new song at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday inspired by the allegations of sexual assault and harassment against Harvey Weinstein.

BMI Country Songwriter of the Year Ross Copperman said the widening crisis inspired him to write a song and record it with Urban.

“We actually wrote a song three weeks ago called ‘Female,’ ” Copperman said Tuesday before the BMI Country Awards.

Urban, husband of Nicole Kidman and father of two daughters, said the song speaks to him on a lot of levels. “I think it’s just time for a recalibrating of the past, you know?”
