Weinstein assistant gives TV interview

-

Harvey Weinstein’s former assistant Zelda Perkins says the Hollywood mogul is a “power addict” who “put an enormous amount of energy into humiliating men and an enormous amount of energy into getting women to submit.”

Perkins — who in the 1990s worked for the United Kingdom arm of Miramax films — accused the producer of attempting to rape a female colleague in 1998.

She and the unnamed colleague resigned from Miramax Films and attempted to take Weinstein to court, only to realize that “ultimately it would be two under-25-year-old women’s words against Harvey Weinstein, Miramax film corporation and essentially the Disney Company.”

Weinstein continues to deny the allegations. As part of a settlement agreement, Perkins signed an iron- clad nondisclosure agreement but spoke out anyway in a televised interview with the BBC on Tuesday.

In other Weinstein news, associate producer Alexandra Canosa, who worked on the Netflix series Marco Polo, sued Weinstein, his company and board of directors, alleging she was sexually harassed, intimidated and assaulted by him over a period of years.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, CBS Los Angeles shared footage of posters with photos of Meryl Streep with Weinstein and the text #SheKnew in several places in L.A.

The posters follow Rose McGowan’s tweets on the weekend calling out Streep for her professional relationship with Weinstein. Streep has said she did not know about Weinstein’s alleged crimes and McGowan said later she wasn’t accusing Streep of knowingly staying silent.
