Get there: Both Air Canada and WestJet offer regular, daily flights to Kelowna International Airport. From there, shuttle service (or rental cars) reaches Revelstoke in about two-and-a-half hours. Stay: Revelstoke’s first boutique hotel, the newly opened Explorers Society Hotel, has taken a 1911 building in the heart of downtown and transformed it into a stylish, nine-room haven. Rooms feature high-end touches, but the star of the show is the top-floor lounge, with its fireplace and couches and large hot tub out on the roof. Eat and drink:

One of the main destinations for travellers, the Revelstoke Mountain Resort features some of the best après-ski in the Kootenays. Warm up with an Ugly Sweater cocktail or a pint of Thigh Burner Pilsner at the Mackenzie Common Tavern, then head next door for an Asian-fusion dinner at the Rockford Wok Bar and Grill.

A distillery located right downtown, Monashee Spirits transforms from a shop to lounge as the evening goes on, with an après-ski crowd bellying up to the copper-top bar for handmade cocktails, including one of the best Bloody Caesars in the country. Tour: While curling is fun, Revelstoke offers a number of other fun winter activities, including snowmobile trips above the tree line — and the clouds — with Great Canadian Tours, which offers snowy trips to Turtle Mountain, Boulder Mountain and Frisby Ridge.
