D-day: Five names for the rumour mill

-

Five players who could be on the move before Thursday’s 3 p.m. NBA trade deadline:

Tyreke Evans, Memphis:

The Grizzlies have held the swingman out of games since Jan. 29 while looking for a new home for Evans and his relatively inexpensive ($3.2 million) expiring contract. Philadelphia and Boston are rumoured suitors.

Marco Belinelli, Atlanta:

He’s a scorer through and through and could win a team a game or two down the stretch simply with his shooting. A bit expensive at $6 million a year, the ex-Raptor may end up being a buyout candidate.

Rodney Hood, Utah:

The Jazz are on a roll with six wins in a row and that might factor into how active they are in pursuit of a playoff spot. Oklahoma City and Detroit are linked to talks about Hood, who might best help Utah by staying put.

DeAndre Jordan, L.A. Clippers:

The Clippers have been a bit all over the map, moving Blake Griffin but apparently locking up Lou Williams long term. Jordan might be the biggest deadline name and Cleveland, among other teams, is in pursuit.

Marcus Smart, Boston:

Smart has fallen out of favour with the Celtics, who would love to pick up a firstround draft pick for the guard/forward. That’s a high price to expect in this day and age and, if Lou Williams is off the market, Boston may stand pat. Doug Smith
