Driver slammed by ‘Jesus’ over parking

Yoga instructor says anonymous critic left letter on his truck in Courtice

- JENNIFER O’MEARA CLARINGTON THIS WEEK

Greg Bradshaw, a yoga instructor who teaches at the Courtice Community Complex, was surprised when someone who had a problem with his parking took the issue to a higher power. Rather than reporting the issue to bylaw officers or the police, the anonymous complainant left a note from “God.”

Bradshaw found the note on his white truck after he had finished teaching yoga on Jan. 29. Using some very unholy language, the business-card-sized note threatened to key his truck and had an image of Jesus making a rather rude gesture.

“What’s Jesus got to do with the way I park anyway?” said Bradshaw, who called the note offensive.

The yoga instructor parks at the north side of the Courtice Community Complex parking lot near Courtice Secondary School, in the wide lane that is used for snow placement during the winter months. He brings a lot of equipment to his classes — including foam blocks, musical instruments and even a Crock Pot full of hot rocks — and parks on a diagonal to be able to get his equipment in and out of his truck.

“This is my yoga studio on wheels,” Bradshaw said. “They couldn’t just come to my face and ask, ‘Why are you parking like that?’ . . . I could explain.”

Before the note from “God,” he’s never had any concerns raised about the way he parks and plans to continue parking the same way unless told not to by the municipality or recreation centre staff. He did report the threatening note to the Bowmanville police station, just in case he comes out one day to find that the person concerned with his parking has keyed his new truck.
