Bistro fare at new Senator Winebar

Bobby Sniderman is opening the Senator Winebar March 15 at 249 Victoria St.

The 24-seat dining room is on the second floor of the Senator Restaurant. Executive chef Paul Laforet (ex-Ursa) is in charge of the bistro menu that includes duck liver mousse ($16) and braised veal cheeks ($32) with whipped potatoes, carrots and parsnip chips. Pastry chef Steve Song’s brûlée lemon tart ($10) and tarte tatin with crème anglais ($10) are meant to pair with the nightly live music.

Open for dinner Thursday to Saturday, 5:30 to 10 p.m. Brunch, Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chef Mark McEwan has opened Fabbrica inside the TD Centre at 66 Wellington St. W., a grab-and-go offshoot of his rustic Italian restaurant in the Shops at Don Mills. On offer are thick Romanstyle pizzas sold by weight and an Italian hot table. Open Monday to Friday,11a.m. to 7 p.m.

Iconink (Patria, Byblos, etc.) has opened Peruvian restaurant Mira at 420a Wellington St. W. Executive chef Stuart Cameron designed the menu of tiradito, mango ceviche and anticuchos. Navigate Design created the open kitchen, plaster walls and bright fabrics. Open for dinner daily from 5 p.m.

Andrew Laffey has sold Hot House Restaurant at 35 Church St. after 29 years to retire. “It’s business as usual” at the popular St. Lawrence cafe, a spokespers­on said.
