A veterinarian, allegedly. Colombianborn Andres Lopez Elorez appeared in a U.S. court, accused of implanting liquid heroin in puppies to turn them into drug mules for a trafficking ring.
SILENCING:
The Egyptian Meteorological Association, which is clamping down on “fake” weather reports. The head of the association says it is preparing a draft law to ban unauthorized forecasts, the Guardian reports.
WINNING:
In the ring, he’s Kane, a WWE wrestler with a “sadistic” streak. But to East Tennesseans, he’s also Glenn Jacobs. The grappler clinched the Republican nomination for the Knox County mayoral race, the Washington Post reports.
PRICE IS WRONG:
For highstrength alcohol in Scotland. It’s been six years since legislation passed setting a floor price for cheap booze, but after legal challenges, high-strength white cider and some vodkas and whisky will see steep increases.
DISASSEMBLING:
The tributes left outside singer George Michael’s homes in London and Oxfordshire. His family has asked fans to desist after the memorials have drawn hordes of tourists. The family asks fans to consider charities instead.
PROVOKING:
A high schooler’s prom pictures. Keziah Daum of Utah, 18, who happens to not be Chinese, posted pictures of herself wearing a cheongsam, or qipao — a traditional Chinese dress — for her prom.
LOSING:
Bill Cosby, when it comes to his honorary degree from Yale. The university rescinded the 2003 award following the comedian’s conviction for sexual assault. It’s the first time the school has made such a move in its 318-year history.
