Dominic Kardasiewicz missing since Friday in Bloor-Lansdowne area

Friends are searching for 33year-old Dominic Kardasiewicz, who was last seen Friday evening near Bloor St. West and Lansdowne Ave., and say his sudden disappearance is totally out of character.

His girlfriend, Rossi Gifford, said he was out with several friends at the Emerson Restaurant on Friday. The group parted ways around 11:30 p.m. and left him walking east towards Dufferin St.

Gifford wasn’t with him that evening, she said, and the last text she got from him was from around 11:30 p.m. saying “Everyone’s dispersing. I assume you’re already asleep.” No one has heard from him since.

“Then just coming back to the apartment later that day, he has a cat and the food dishes were empty, and just there was no sign that he even returned,” she said.

“That was the very unsettling part. He’s not even been back.”

Kardasiewicz is described in a Toronto Police release as sixfoot-two and unshaven, with a medium build, blue eyes and short brown hair.

He was wearing a red zip-up Adidas hooded sweatshirt, a light blue/grey shirt, grey shorts and cream Adidas running shoes.

He has a tattoo of a revolver on the back of his left leg. Police say in the release they are concerned for his safety.

Gifford said it’s “super out of character” for Kardasiewicz to just disappear, describing him as a “really relaxed, chill guy,” who works as animator and loves music.

With a group of concerned friends, Gifford is planning to make flyers and put posters all over the area where he was last seen and his neighbourhood.

Const. Caroline de Kloet of the Toronto Police said they are still searching for Kardasiewicz. The Marine Unit was out Monday checking the area along the waterfront, which is standard for missing persons investigations.

One of the last people to see Kardasiewicz on Friday was Georgina Walker, who was out with him in the west end that night.

“It’s possible that he may have stopped in somewhere on his way home but we don’t have any concrete evidence that that’s the case,” she said.

At this point it seems like “a very suspicious situation,” Walker added.

“If anybody has any information, we just want to know that he’s OK.” Dominic Kardasiewicz, 33, went missing near Lansdowne Ave. and Bloor St. W. Friday.
