No drama in Big Brother Canada renewal

-

This time last year Corus, the media conglomerate that owns the Global TV network announced that Big Brother Canada was being placed on hiatus.

That didn’t last long, after an outpouring of support from fans. Corus announced Monday that Season 7 will debut sometime in 2019, hosted once again by Arisa Cox.

Other shows renewed include Season 3 of the critically acclaimed Mary Kills People, about a doctor that helps terminally ill patients and Season 3 of the Toronto-shot Jason Priestley detective series Private Eyes. Reality TV series include a Canadian version of Iron Chef, a culinary faceoff that will debut on the Food Network this fall.

Corus announced seven new acquisitions for their programming schedule including FBI, starring Canadian Missy Peregrym ( Rookie Blue) and produced by procedural king Dick Wolf ( Law & Order) and also on the CBS network. Other new American shows on the Global lineup include:

New Amsterdam — a medical drama starring The Blacklist’s Ryan Eggold as a doctor disrupting the status quo at an understaffed hospital.

The Neighborhood — Cedric the Entertainer ( Barbershop) stars as an opinionated neighbour in Los Angeles who is wary of the new neighbours (including Max Greenfield, New Girl).

Happy Together — Damon Wayans Jr. ( New Girl), and Amber Stevens West ( Ghosted) are a 30-something happily married couple who reconnect with their cooler selves when a happy-go-lucky young pop star unexpectedly moves in with them.
