The culinary publication and namesake of Canadian television host, food writer and regular Toronto Star contributor Ricardo Larrivée was also nominated in the lifestyle photography category as well for the stories “Rain supreme” and “Food trends,” along with art direction for his article “Turn the beet around.”

“I’m so proud to have won the award this year for Best Magazine in the Lifestyle category,” Larrivée told the Star.

“Since 2001, our mission has been to encourage people to cook and to gather around the table to share great mo- ments. This honour is another tremendous reward for everyone on our team, which works with passion to create a better magazine, year after year.”

Larrivée launched the culinary magazine in conjunction with his TV cooking program RICARDO. He is the author of a series of cookbooks available in both English and French, and is a member of the Order of Canada.

RICARDO magazine won the best lifestyle magazine honour for the 41st edition of the annual Canadian Magazine Awards, which took place in Toronto on June 1. Accepting the award at the gala held in the Art Deco themed Arcadian Court event space at The Bay’s downtown flagship store on Yonge and Queen Sts. was Laura Osborne, RICARDO magazine’s editor-in-chief.

“To be honoured with a magazine grand prix is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and talent of our team and our talented contributors,” she told the audience.
