Peel police say medical issue may have triggered incident at Mississauga shopping plaza

- LOUIE ROSELLA

Peel Regional Police are investigating a crash at a Mississauga store in which an SUV went through the front window, sending a man to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Factory Direct store in the plaza at Dundas St. E. and Blundell Rd.

Peel Region Paramedics transported a man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, to Mississauga Hospital with serious injuries.

Shoppers in the plaza were shocked at what transpired.

“There’s glass everywhere,” said Izna Malikzai, who said she was in a nearby furniture store when she heard a loud noise.

“It looks like he just drove right through the front window and took out an entire corner (of the store).”

Police believe a medical issue may have triggered the crash, but say it’s too early to know for certain.

Anyone with information can call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 1200.
