Stan Lee associate arrested, charged
A court in Los Angeles issued a temporary restraining order Wednesday against a man who has claimed to be a caregiver for Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, court documents and a lawyer for Lee said.
The court order came just two days after the Los Angeles police say they arrested the man, Keya Morgan, and booked him into jail on a warrant charging him with filing a false report in connection with Lee, 95.
Morgan was released on bond, according to court documents.
The developments mark the latest bizarre turn in the strange mix of tragedy and scandal that have engulfed Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man, X-Men and Black Panther, since the death of his wife, Joan Lee, in July.
In court documents, Tom Lallas, a lawyer who said he had agreed to act as “guardian ad litem” for Lee, said Lee suffered from hearing, vision and memory impairments and was unable to “resist undue influence.”
He said Lee’s estate was worth more than $50 million (U.S.), making him vulnerable to financial predators.
Morgan, Lallas alleges in court documents, is “a memorabilia collector who inserted himself into Mr. Lee’s life as his caregiver” after the passing of Lee’s wife.
“Petitioner, along with law enforcement and Adult Protective Services, believes that Mr. Morgan is unduly influencing Mr. Lee and isolating him.”
Attempts to contact Morgan, 42, on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
