Police ID more suspects for playground shooting
Both men wanted for charges including attempted murder
Toronto police have identified two more suspects wanted in a brazen shooting at a Scarborough playground last week that sent two young girls to the hospital.
Tarrick Rhoden and T’Quan Robertson, both 23-year-olds from Toronto, are each wanted for attempted murder, discharging a firearm and aggravated assault.
Rhoden is described as six-foot-one and 181 pounds; Robertson is five-footeight and 130 pounds. Police believe both men are armed and warn the public not to approach them if spotted.
Sheldon Eriya, 21, of Markham was arrested last Friday in Pickering. He was charged with seven offences, including two counts of attempted murder.
The girls were two of 11 children at the playground in Scarborough’s Alton Towers community when at least seven shots were fired Thursday at about 5 p.m.
A man who was also at the playground was the intended target, police said. The gunman arrived by car, but walked to the playground and opened fire before fleeing, police said.
The victims — sisters who are 5 and 9 — are recovering from gunshot wounds to the stomach and ankle at Sick Kids hospital. The shooting outraged the city and sparked political tough talk over the issue of gun violence.
The playground is tucked between the townhouses, bordered by the street and the parking lot. Ten bullet holes could be seen, circled with black marker.
