Sorry, ladies. Bieber’s getting married

- Star Staff

Young hearts were broken around the world over the weekend with news that Canadian superstar Justin Bieber got engaged.

The 24-year-old heartthrob proposed to model Hailey Baldwin, 21, at a restaurant in a resort in the Bahamas on Saturday (after security told everyone to put their phones away), according to TMZ. CNN also confirmed the report.

The pair were introduced by her father, actor Stephen Baldwin, at the premiere of Bieber’s film Never Say Never in 2011 in New York. They reportedly had a short relationship in 2016 before Bieber got back together with his famous ex, Selena Gomez, and Baldwin became linked to another young Canadian singer, Shawn Mendes.

In a 2016 interview with GQ magazine, Bieber was extremely pragmatic when talking about his love life.

“What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged,” he said. “It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard … I just don’t want to hurt her.”

Even though the news is not quite officially official, Bieb’s parents are already beaming.

“Love Love Love Love Love Love Love,” tweeted mom Pattie Mallette on Saturday.

Dad Jeremy Bieber was less cryptic but no less effusive. “@justinbieber Proud is an understatement! Excited for the next chapter!” he posted on his Instagram with a dreamy orange sunset-drenched photo of his superstar son. The next question: will there be a wedding party in Stratford?
