He’s hitting .322 on the season and leads the NL in hits with 113, 10 of which have been home runs. He has accounted for a team-high 59 RBIs and has a .879 OPS. Randal Grichuk’s season has seen more peaks and valleys than that of Markakis. A brutal start to the year ended with Grichuk hitting the disa- bled list in late April, batting .106 with just seven hits at the time. He has picked things up since his return from injury, hitting a much-improved .261 with 9 homers and 21 RBIs. Grichuk has hit .302 in 20 career games against the Braves. Need to know: A left glute strain is expected to keep Jays right-hander Marco Estrada from his start in the opening game of this series; he is hoping to return against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend. Four Atlanta players were named to the NL’s all-star roster: Markakis, first baseman Freddie Freeman, right-hander Mike Foltynewicz and second baseman Ozzie Albies. Max Fried, scheduled to start on Wednesday for the Braves, was placed on the disabled list Friday with a left middle finger blister. On deck: Four games at the Boston Red Sox, starting Thursday.
