Homebuilder Dean Kleon, with Construct and Conserve Building, designed the home with the help and advice of his wife Jennifer.

“When my husband and I first laid eyes on this property, we immediately fell in love with the peacefulness of the surrounding community and its proximity to nature,” says Jennifer.

“It gave us an opportunity to create our own tranquil oasis while still being close to the amenities of the charming nearby town of Port Perry. My husband was able to build a home that fit perfectly with our family’s needs from his years of experience working with Construct and Conserve Building.

“We incorporated an open-concept layout on the main level, which allows for easy entertaining when hosting friends and family,” she says. “This property also gave us the opportunity to stay connected to nature year-round by enjoying walks on nearby nature trails or ice skating and snowmobiling on Lake Scugog in the winter months.”

Across the street from Lake Scugog and a short walk to a park, the home is about an 80-minute drive to Toronto.

“This home is situated on a one-and-aquarter-acre property on a quiet meandering street in a scenic lakeside community. It features Armour Stone tiered landscaping, both front and back, and a large hot tub. The kitchen has custom maple cabinetry and there are custom built-ins in many of the rooms, plus either vaulted or nine-foot main-floor ceilings,” says listing agent Dianne Hooker.

A bungalow with a loft level, the home has an attached three-car garage, giving it an L-shaped appearance. The exterior features a stone and Hardie Board façade, cedar entrance trim and a wide, long, double drive that can accommodate about 14 cars.

The foyer has a ceramic-tile floor, double coat closet, pot lights and a half-wall.

Features of the living room — or the great room — include a soaring vaulted ceiling, three large picture windows, a hardwood floor, crown moulding, pot lights, a ceiling fan and a gas fireplace with a stone surround, bordered on both sides with built-in shelves and cabinetry.

The open-concept dining room contains wainscotting, hardwood floor, crown moulding, picture window, par- tial vaulted ceiling and modern pendant light fixture.

The large kitchen features a vaulted ceiling, pot lights, large breakfast bar/ centre island with cabinetry and a pendant light fixture, stone counters, a pantry, ceramic tile backsplash, travertine tile floor, stainless steel appliances and a double, garden-door walkout.

On the main floor, the master bedroom is outfitted with double entry doors, a hardwood floor, walk-in closet, picture window, ceiling fan and five-piece ensuite. The master ensuite includes a glass-enclosed oversized shower stall, a stand-alone soaker tub, quartz counters, travertine floor and twin vanity sinks. A powder room and a laundry room/ mud room with direct access to the garage, a walkout to the backyard, built-in organizers, cabinetry and a bench complete the main level.

Upstairs there are two more bedrooms, an open-concept office-playroom overlooking the main level, and a four-piece bathroom. Both bedrooms feature large windows, double closets and hardwood floors. The lower level is full and unfinished. The backyard includes a covered, tiled concrete deck with pot lights, an interlocking stone patio with several sitting areas, a five-person hot tub and built-in firepit.

The large landscaped yard has ample green space, flower beds and trees. It backs onto farmland.
