EXPECT ALL-ACCESS PASS AT HUMBER OPEN HOUSE

-

Kirsten Caldwell remembers attending Humber College’s open house when she was a student. The Peterborough native says the opportunity gave her an idea of the school’s approach and campus atmosphere and solidified her decision to enroll. Today, as Humber’s recruitment communications coordinator, Caldwell is helping to run the college’s open house events to assist other students in making that same decision.

“Students can expect an all-access pass,” says Caldwell of Humber’s next open house on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at its Humber North, Lakeshore and Orangeville campuses. “Lab spaces will be open, the school’s various service areas will be available for conversations and so will faculty and current students.”

Humber’s open house, says Caldwell, allows attendees to customize their experience. For example, general sessions and campus tours are designed to help answer questions about future careers, residence, athletics, transfer options or financial assistance. School program sessions, tours and information booths, meanwhile, offer prospective students a better understanding of the learning environment.

“Current students will provide insight into their experience from a learner’s perspective and faculty as well as program coordinators are also a great source of information,” says Caldwell. “I remember speaking to my program coordinator and she was so open and super honest because I wanted a realistic view of the program I was hoping to enroll in.”

Describing Humber as a close-knit community, Caldwell says no matter the campus, students will find faculties and services intertwined in an effective way. She says students can determine which campus visit will be most beneficial based on the program area or program in which they are most interested. Information about where particular programs will be exhibited can be found on Humber.ca.

“We hope people walk away from the open house a bit more confident that this is the best place for them,” she says.
