Peel police are searching for a man in a hit-and-run investigation after an altercation inside a Mississauga bar escalated into a vehicle being driven onto a sidewalk and into a group of people, injuring five. Speaking from outside &Company Resto Bar, a bar and nightclub at Enfield Place and Kariya Dr., near Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. and Hurontario St., Const. Sarah Patten told media the incident began inside the bar after two groups of people got into an altercation around 3 a.m. Sunday.

“Security then escorted them out, where the altercation continued out onto the street,” Patten said. One man left the other individuals in order to retrieve his vehicle, but instead of simply leaving the scene in his car, he “drove it up to the side of the establishment, exited, and continued with the altercation.”

Police said the fight soon escalated into violence.

The man, Patten said, “got back into his vehicle and drove it up onto the sidewalk, striking several people that were already involved in the altercation as well.”

One woman suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a trauma centre. Two others were transported to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Patten said, and two were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Patten said all of the victims were in their 20s.

Police said the suspect is described as a 35- to 40-year-old Black man, and have released his photo. He was driving a dark-coloured Acura with no front licence plate.

The charges he could be facing include assault with a weapon and failure to remain at the scene, police said.
