Horvat/Tavares Vancouver’s Bo Horvat, with 36 points in 42 games, is on pace to shatter his career high of 52 points from two seasons ago. The 23-year-old centre, drafted ninth overall in 2013, is also the NHL’s top faceoff man ... Leafs centre John Tavares, selected to play in the all-star game for the sixth time, was third in the NHL in goals through Thursday with 26.

Vancouver’s Elias Pettersson, who notched his first hat trick in an overtime win over Ottawa on Wednesday, leads all rookies with 22 goals and 20 assists, but suffered a leg injury in Thursday’s 2-0 loss in Montreal. He’ll travel to Toronto, but isn’t expected to play ... It’s the last stop on a six-game road trip for the Canucks, coached by ex-Leaf Travis Green ... Canucks centre Brandon Sutter returned to the lineup this week. He’d been out since late October with a shoulder injury … Former Leaf Josh Leivo was expected to miss at least two games with back spasms, and could lose his lineup spot to Sutter … Defenceman Mike Del Zotto, a healthy scratch for 13 games, returned to the lineup Thursday, bumping Derrick Pouliot.
