GTA domestic homicide cases in 2018

These are cases where an intimate partner has been charged with murder or identified as the murderer in a murder-suicide — none of these cases have gone to trial.

Jan. 2: Barbara Kovic, 76. She was found dead in her Etobicoke home and her 81-year-old husband, Ante Kovic, was charged with second-degree murder. Ante Kovic, who reportedly had a history of dementia, passed away in May.

Jan. 12: Avtar Kaur, 60 and Baljit Thandi, 32. The mother and daughter — described as “best friends” — were fatally stabbed in their Brampton home. Thandi’s husband, Dalwinder Singh, faces two counts of second-degree murder.

Jan. 13: Elaine Bellevue, 61. Elaine’s friends described her as a “supermom” to her daughters, who loved to enter contests and share the winnings. Her husband, Robert (Bob) Bellevue, 61, is charged with first-degree murder and the attempted murder of one of their teenage daughters.

Jan. 17: Jan Singh, 70. Police said Singh was shot by her husband, Prem Singh, 69, who then shot himself in their Oakville home. They were found by officers conducting a welfare check early that morning after a 911 call was made.

Jan. 27: Hoden Said, 30. Her body was found in a basement apartment in Brampton. Police issued a warrant for Nicholas Anthony Young, 46, for seconddegr­ee murder. He was found dead days later. Police confirmed to the Star that Said and Young had been in a relationsh­ip.

March 5: Alicia Lewandowsk­i, 25. The Humber College student was found fatally shot in a townhouse in Mississaug­a where she was living with her mother. Her boyfriend, Joseph Chang, 39, is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

March 6: Essozinam “Martine” Assali, 27. Assali’s friends described her as a “humble, loving and caring soul.” She was found by police with serious injuries in a North York apartment on March 6. Her boyfriend, Onoseta Oribhabor, 30, of Edmonton, was found dead on the balcony.

March 14: Krassimira “Krissy” Pejcinovsk­i, 39, son Roy, 15, and daughter Venallia “Vana”, 13. Pejcinovsk­i’s boyfriend, Cory Fenn, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder. A memorial fund has been set up in their names.

July 12: Carolyn Campbell, 52. Campbell was a retired nurse on disability due to heart disease and a lung condition. Her common-law partner, Josiph Cardle, faces a second-degree murder charge.

July 21: Alyssa Lightstone, 20. Friends described Lightstone as beautiful, smart and always smiling. Lightstone’s boyfriend, Ali Nadderi, 25, allegedly shot her in the head at a small party in Newmarket. Nadderi has been charged with seconddegr­ee murder.

Nov. 1: Linda Santos, 47. Santos was found dead at a Mississaug­a apartment after her 56-year-old husband, Ross Ingberg, took his own life at his workplace. Police are still investigat­ing.
