Hi Doug. Perhaps a list? Top five concerts you never attended, but wish you had. Hendrix at Monterey? The Clash at 100 Club? Rat Pack at the Sands? Others? Hopefully thinking it through brings back some fond memories! — Mike Man, that’s a tough one. I’m not really as conversant as I should be on “big” shows and venues, but I’d probably go with the original Live Aid show at Wembley. I’d love to see U2 in Dublin. I think The Stones on Copacabana would have been amazing, and I would have liked to see, obviously, the Beatles at Shea. Bruce Springsteen in Jersey anywhere would be on the list, right? But you know, I did see Frank Sinatra — not the Rat Pack, but Sinatra — at the Sands with Super Dad in the very early ’90s and he may have talked more than sung, but it was pretty damn sweet. And Super Wife saw Chick Corea at the Monterey Jazz Festival and I’ve been jealous ever since. James Harden’s scoring like Wilt. Teams are regularly putting up 120 points (sometimes 130, 140!) and LeBron still plays like he’s 25. Young players like Nikola Jokic and Luca Doncic are mesmerizing. Is this a new Golden Era for NBA entertainment value? Don’t the 91-87, 84-81 games of yesteryear seem like a long time ago? — Paul M. This is, without question, the best time in NBA history. Players are so, so, so good up and down the roster of every team in the league, it’s ridiculous. Curious to know who the lady is with the short blond hair that seems to travel with the Raptors. She is on the floor at the end of games corralling players to the interviews … Lastly, heading to NOLA mid-March to catch the Raptors. Any suggestions for a good stool and perhaps some crawfish? — B.M. New Orleans? Well, Commander’s Palace is the touristy place to go, but you can find good food at any number of places in the French Quarter. I’ve heard great things about Neyow’s Creole Café. The lady? That’d be The Mighty Quinn (Jennifer Quinn), media relations czarina, long-time and forever friend of mine, former colleague and boss and one of the best Player Wranglers out there. Wondering if you have any insight into how Kawhi Leonard has been meshing with his new teammates, given that we are halfway through the season — not only on the court, but off the court in areas such as practices. What has surprised you most about the play of Kawhi? Do you expect Masai to be actively looking to make a trade before the deadline? — Monty I do expect Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster to make a rather bold move at the beginning of February, if not earlier. They’ll work their managerial magic and obtain a veteran 7-footer with solid shooting range and vast playoff experience, and won’t have to give up a single player or draft pick to get him. But other than getting Jonas Valanciunas back from a thumb injury, they don’t need to do a dang thing. Kawhi? We don’t get a lot of access, but from every private conversation I’ve had with a player, coach or staffer, he’s fitting in fine.
