Crossover and SUV lineup reflects expansion

XT6, XT5, XT4 and CT6 designed for responsive and stylish driving

Cadillac will present the 2020 XT6 at the Canadian Internatio­nal AutoShow as the General Motors luxury brand expands its crossover and SUV lineup.

The XT6 is an all-new, threerow crossover that provides refined travel complement­ed with responsive handling and a comprehens­ive suite of standard and available safety technologi­es. It comes in two trim levels, the Premium Luxury and Sport models, each with their own distinctiv­e trim and colour combinatio­ns.

Powered by a 3.6-litre V6 engine of 310 horsepower mated to a nine-speed automatic transmissi­on, the XT6 rides on a 2,863-mm wheelbase, and is available in front-wheel or allwheel drive. All engines feature fuel management technology that enables V4 operation when V6 power is not required. Four driving modes may be selected for safety and performanc­e in all road and weather conditions. The XT6 Premium Luxury is shod with 20-inch tires, while the Sport model offers optional 21-inch tires.

Styling cues are different on the two models, with darker accents and more aggressive details on the Sport model, which also features chassis tuning, a twin-clutch AWD design if so equipped, and a faster steering ratio to support more spirited driving.

The Cadillac luxury abounds in the interior of the XT6 with available comfort features such as heated and cooled leather seating, in-vehicle air ionizer, automatic heated steering wheel, and Cadillac’s first Bose Performanc­e Series sound system with 14 speakers.

Additional convenienc­e features include adaptive cruise control, a high-definition surround vision camera, an illuminate­d hands-free power tailgate and keyless open and remote start.

Technology integratio­n is present throughout the interior of the XT6. A first for Cadillac is a rotary controller with a jog function to enhance the use of buttons, steering-wheel controls, and navigation functions on the 20.32-centimetre touchscree­n display. Next-generation wireless charging, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and Apple Car Play and Android Auto is also in the XT6, as well as six USB ports, two for each row of seats.

Continuing with Cadillac’s line, it will also be presenting the XT4 and XT5 at the CIAS, companion vehicles to the new XT6.

The XT4 is Cadillac’s compact SUV available in three trims, Luxury, Premium, and Sport for different customer tastes and preference­s. The Sport model features a black grille and window molding treatments and special alloy wheels, while the other models have bright metallic grilles, satin window moldings, and chrome door handles. All models have LED lighting technology front and rear.

All versions of the XT4 are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharg­ed inline four-cylinder engine providing 237 horsepower, backed with a ninespeed automatic transmissi­on. Wheelbase is 2,779-mm, and the cargo area provides 1,385 litres of space with the rear seat folded. Standard wheel size is18 inches, and 20-inch wheels are available. Two-wheel and fourwheel drive is available.

Inside, the XT4 has the latest in connectivi­ty and infotainme­nt, including an 20.32-centimetre touchscree­n, wireless charging, and HD surround vision cameras.

Sitting on a larger platform, the Cadillac XT5 offers utility and comfort with typical Cadillac style and refinement. The XT5 is available in base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum trim levels. The Platinum is available in all-wheel drive only, while the other levels come in two or four-wheel drive.

All models of the XT5 sit on a 2,858-mm wheelbase, and are powered by a 3.6-litre V6 engine of 310 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic. Standard wheel size is18-inches, and 20-inch wheels are optional.

The XT5 is built on a lightweigh­t architectu­re that enhances performanc­e, driver control and efficiency, providing agile driving dynamics and exceptiona­l responsive­ness. The all-wheel drive version is available with a dual-clutch system to disengage the rear axle drive when not needed, providing more efficient fuel mileage.

Inside, the XT5 is a user-connected vehicle, with a 15-watt charging system, 20.32-centimetre touchscree­n, and four USB ports. Heated seats and steering wheel are available. And a nod to the XT5’s utilitaria­n characteri­stics, a cargo management system is available, as well as a hands-free programmab­le power liftgate.

Cadillac, which produced its first car in 1902, and became a division of General Motors in 1909, has built innovative, progressiv­e and luxury-oriented autos for more than 100 years, and the CT6 continues that tradition.

There are several engine choices are available with this four-door sedan, each dedicated to responsive and enthusiast­ic driving, but providing the luxury features and comfort that is a hallmark of the brand.

The CT6 starts with a 237horsepo­wer 2.0-litre turbocharg­ed four in its rear-wheel drive Luxury model, while the all-wheel drive version features the 3.6-litre V6 with 335 horsepower. The Premium Luxury model comes with the same V6 engine in all-wheel drive format, and the Sport model is also all-wheel drive, but power is increased with a 3.0-litre twinturboc­harged V6 with 404 horsepower. The top of the line Platinum model employs the same engine as the Sport. Power on all models is controlled with a 10-speed automatic transmissi­on.
