There has been a dramatic rise in requests for community services since the outset of the pandemic and these numbers continue to climb. United Way’s GTA-wide network of agencies is on the frontlines of our community response and needs your help.

Joanne Amos, United Way client

“United Way was there for me during a very difficult time in my life. Because of them, I have a job, a roof over my head and the ability to feed my family. I still work at the same United Way agency that helped me get back on my feet several years ago. During the pandemic, I’m still commuting three hours a day to get to my job, on top of managing my kids, pets, husband, life and my caseload. But I wouldn’t change a thing. I rely on this support to get by and I’m so grateful to these agencies for the support they’ve given my family over the years.”

Jermain Whyte, United Way client

“Right now, I’m working on a contracting site. I’m more concerned about going to work because of COVID-19. Unfortunately, in order to maintain a stable life and keep up with my bills, I have to take that chance. I do feel uncertain about my future, but I know that for the world to get through this, we have to work as a community and support each other. That’s why I think donors like you are so important. When we get out of this, a lot of young people are going to need United Way employment programs like the one that helped me start my career. You’re making sure they have that support.”
