1. American Rust: Broken Justice

Showtime declined to make a second season of this gritty detective show, but Jeff Daniels’ passion for the project helped it find a new home on Prime. This season, his grizzled cop Harris transition­s from small-town police chief to Pittsburgh detective. Back home, his fiery girlfriend (Maura Tierney) fights against fracking, while the new chief (Rob Yang) pokes into Harris’ dicey past. Prime Video

2. Hope on the Street

J-Hope isn’t just part of one of the biggest pop groups in the world. He also loves to dance. This miniseries follows the BTS member around the world as he delights in many different styles. Prime Video

3. A Gentleman in Moscow

Ewan McGregor dons a Hercule Poirot-esque ’stache to play a bougie Russian sentenced to live out the rest of his post-Revolution life in a swanky hotel. The show looks like it will tilt slightly more “Grand Budapest Hotel” whimsy than prestige miniseries darkness. Friday on Paramount Plus

4. Is It Cake?

One of our favourite ridiculous reality shows is back for a third course as another batch of baking hopefuls battle it out. The premise? They must bake ultrareali­stic confection­s and trick C-list celebs. Friday on Netflix

5. Jerrod Carmichael: Reality Show

Jerrod Carmichael used his network sitcom “The Carmichael Show” to tackle LGBTQ issues and the Black Lives Matter movement. He came out in his Emmy Awardwinni­ng special “Rothaniel.” Now, he’s documentin­g his dating adventures in a raw new reality show that is brutally honest and hilarious. Friday on Crave

6. Parish

Giancarlo Esposito brings his steely gaze back to AMC as a downtrodde­n man who agrees to a driving gig to make some extra cash. Unfortunat­ely, it turns out the position is less chauffeuri­ng and more body disposal.

Synanon began a more inclusive drug rehab program but slowly evolved into something more sinister, morphing into a religion and then, finally, a full-blown cult. Find out how the cuddly commune imploded from the people who were there.

8. Crime Scene Berlin: Nightlife Killer

Berlin has long been a nightlife mecca. In 2012, however, going out got a lot scarier when a series of queer men were murdered. This true-crime miniseries features investigat­ors and survivors, even the killer themselves, talking about the terrifying crime spree. Wednesday on Netflix

9. Loot

Comedic treasure Maya Rudolph returns as Molly Wells, the third richest woman in the world. This season, she’s decided to give away her billions and start a housing initiative, albeit with a few hiccups, including not knowing what meetings or PDFs are, and the occasional SWAT team raid.

10. Take My Tumour

There’s nothing that cheers the heart like a good old-fashioned miracle surgery, which thankfully remains TLC’s stock in trade. In this new show, folks visit America’s most renowned surgeons to see if the medical pros can remove their dramatic tumours. Wednesday on Discovery Plus
