Districts track results.
An annual sporting tradition played itself out over two days at the track and field complex at Ecole Par- en- Bas in Tusket, Yarmouth County, last week.
And in keeping with tradition most years, it was cold and/ or wet for much of the event.
The 2017 NSSAF ( Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation) Shelburne-Yarmouth District track and field meet was held Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16 with just over 80 preliminary and final events held, which included short and long- distance individual races, hurdles and relay races on the track and events such as triple jump, high jump, discus throwing, shot put and javelin throwing on the field.
The top four athletes/teams in the track events and the top five athletes in the field events from the participating schools in Yarmouth and Shelburne counties advanced to regionals, which are being held this Thursday and Friday at Acadia University in Wolfville. ( Given the extensive result finishes, space does not allow us to publish them in this newspaper. You can visit the NSSAF website for results.)
District banners were handed out to the schools with the most points in each of the six divisions. The Yarmouth high school won the senior boys and girls banners. The intermediate boys banner was won by Barrington high school. Ecole Par- en- Bas was the intermediate girls banner. Maple Grove won both the junior boys and girls banners.
