The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (DFA) and Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) are inviting seafood exporters to submit applications by Jan. 2, 2018 for inclusion in the latest Nova Scotia Seafood Company Directory.

“Throughout the year, DFA and NSBI engage in a number of international market development activities promoting Nova Scotia’s seafood industry and the sale of seafood products in markets around the globe such as China, Japan, Vietnam, United States and the European Union. These activities include trade missions, in-bound buyers’ missions, exhibitions, product promotional videos and materials, and in-market seafood preparation and displays,” says the NSBI website, inviting directory applications.

“The Directory is often the first point of reference when engaging in discussions about trade development opportunities. It is used as a marketing and sales tool, in print and online at nsseafood.com, for specific seafood species and product inquiries from importers and buyers.”

There is no charge to register in the directory. To be eligible, companies must submit an application by the Jan. 2 deadline and must have exported a seafood product outside of Nova Scotia since July 2016. There is also a new application intake process. “All companies must complete and submit a new application form to be included” in the directory “even if your company has an existing profile in the current online directory.”

All applications will be reviewed for eligibility. Companies will be notified via email whether or not they qualify. To apply, visit https:// novascotiabusiness.com/seafoodapplication

According to NSBI statistics, Nova Scotia exported $1.68 billion in seafood to more than 75 countries in 2015. Nova Scotia’s seafood industry includes 178 processing companies that provide year-round access to more than 50 species of premium quality fish and seafood.
