As we get ready to turn the page to a new year, Cindy Robicheau is preparing for the winter portion of her Yarmouth community health and wellness classes.

The sessions are multi-level – suitable for everyone – and are held at the Yarmouth Lions Club hall. The program’s winter schedule starts Wednesday, Jan. 3.

“Everyone is always welcome, including children with an adult,” Robicheau said.

It’s a drop-in format and there is no charge, although donations are welcome.

“People give what they can and it seems to work out well,” Robicheau said.

“I get so many people who comment that they really can’t afford to go to a gym ... especially if it’s a couple. I’ve had a lot of couples say they couldn’t afford for them both to go to a fitness class, but this way they both can come.”

Classes are held Mondays and Wednes- days, starting at 10:15 a.m. each day. The Monday schedule:

10:15 – dusty sneakers (a mix of cardio, strength and stretch exercises)

11 a.m. – chair yoga and stretching 11:30 a.m. – qigong (myofascial release) 12:10 p.m. – abs and core strength 12:30 p.m. – yoga stretch

The Wednesday schedule:

10:15 a.m. – dusty sneakers

11 a.m. – dance fun

11:30 a.m. – qigong

12 noon – legs and abs

12:30 p.m. – yoga flow Robicheau, who has been doing the community fitness classes for six years or so, has conducted them in various locations.

“A lot of people have followed me from place to place, but the Lions Club has been a really good fit for us,” she said. “They have a good, accessible entry. They have lots of parking.”
