WILSON, Alvin Earl MMM CD – With sorrow we announce the passing of Al who passed peacefully on February 5, 2018 at Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle. Born in Chemainus, B.C. 1931, son of the late Earl Wilson and Marjorie (Silburn) Wilson. Al served 35 years in RCAF as Armament Systems Technician and Technician Armament. He was a cartoonist for the military newspapers and Shelburne Coast Guard for many years. He was awarded the Order of Military Merit and recipient of the Queens Jubilee Metal and his 50-year pin from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 148 Clark’s Harbour. Al dedicated much time and expertise to the Remembranc­e Day Services and to visiting the schools during Remembranc­e Day week. Al volunteere­d in many organizati­ons in his community including being Justice of the Peace for 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Carol Velden Wilson nee Scott; daughters, Velden Doris (Steve Gray) and Edna Mae (Marc Teillet); granddaugh­ter, Alaina and grandson, Timothy all of Courtenay B.C. Al was predecease­d by his sister, Marjorie; brothers, Harry and Lawrence all of B.C. Surviving brother, Robert of Ladysmith, B.C. and several nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his brother and sister-in-law’s and nieces and nephews from the Scott family. Al was always known as a gentleman who is loved by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Donations can be made to the Good Will Club in Barrington or the Wesley Heritage Community Seniors Associatio­n in Barrington. A Legion Service will be held at 1:00 pm on February 20 followed by a Celebratio­n of Life Service for Al at 2:00 pm at the Wesley Heritage Community Centre in Barrington.
