Looking back to keep an eye on their teammate’s serve to the opposing team as Fusion looks to pick up points.

It was a busy weekend for the Southwest Fusion volleyball club of Yarmouth County, which hosted Super Series play at a couple of local schools.

And while three of its teams were playing locally, other Southwest Fusion teams were in action elsewhere.

Here’s a recap of how the Fusion teams did, starting with the local action:

The 16U boys were the first on the court, with the 12-team field divided between the Par-en-Bas and Drumlin Heights schools. The Fusion team won its division but lost in the semifinal round to a team from the Dartmouth Volleyball Club. Dartmouth defeated Truro Tide in the final.

The 15U tier 2 girls played at Drumlin, where the Fusion team placed second out of five teams, losing to a team from Halifax in the final.

The 18U boys played at Par-enBas in Tusket, where the Fusion team came in second in their pool and finished third overall.

Fusion teams playing on the road included the 15U girls, tier 1, who were in Truro, placing third in a Super Series event there, guaranteeing a spot in tier 1 in the next Super Series.

The 16U girls, tier 2, were in the valley, the Fusion team winning the tournament by defeating Digby in the final. (The Fusion team will be in tier 1 for the next Super Series.)

Also playing in the valley were the 18U girls. The Fusion team won the tournament, moving them up to tier 1 for the next Super Series event to be held the first weekend in March.
